Fluttering By with Black Butterflies
Hi, everyone! I made this card using the "Fluttering By" stamp set that is available in the Little Acres Creations online store.
I made a top-folding 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 card base and then cut a piece of white cardstock the same size. I put that piece of cardstock into an embossing folder by Sizzix, ran it through my die cut machine and adhered it to the card base.
For the butterflies, I took a piece of vellum and went over it with my anti-static powder tool. It's very important to do this with vellum as it holds embossing powder everywhere you don't want it to. Regular cardstock is bad enough but vellum is 10 times worse!
After using my powder tool, I stamped that butterflies with Versamark ink, applied black embossing powder, and heat set it. The next step is where the fun begins and the magic happens!
I turned over the vellum and colored the areas using my Distress Markers. I blended some of the areas with my finger, while other areas I used a cloth. When you turn the vellum over you get this beautiful, muted look that reminds me of stained glass.
To finish the card, I stamped the greeting from the set onto a scrap of white cardstock with Bahama Blue ink from Memento and adhered it to a piece of light blue cardstock from my stash.
